Dozens of kids in Lexington’s east end neighborhood made full use of a brand new water feature in Charles Young Park. ONE Lexington, an initiative dedicated to reducing youth violence has ramped up its programming this summer. On the final day of their "It Takes a Village" mentoring camp the kids got a lesson in money - how to earn it, how to save it, and how to use it. 15 years ago Congress designated July as National Minority Mental Health Awareness month in part to bring light to the stigma of mental health illness within the minority population of the US. Historically Black Colleges and Universities or HBCU’s are doing what they can to aid in this effort. Edgar Lewis is an interventionist and mental health counselor at Kentucky State University in Frankfort.
