Sweet relief! New splash pad opens in Charles Young Park

Anyiah Chambers

Dozens of kids in Lexington’s east end neighborhood made full use of a brand new water feature in Charles Young Park. Mayor Linda Gorton, city officials and other stakeholders officially dedicated the splash pad while the children remained blissfully unaware of the proceedings. WUKY’s Anyiah Chambers has the story.

Splash! Is an open concept and interactive water pad that connects to the playground, Community center and other park and play areas.

Not only are families encouraged to come out and embrace the new amenity, community events such as East End day are encouraged to bring unity in the area says District 1 Councilwoman Tayna Fogle.

The other feature of the park brings an educational awareness about the late Brigadier General Charles Young and the cultural history of the East End neighborhood.
