Anyiah Chambers

A significant milestone was reached Thursday as the United Way of the Bluegrass, in partnership with Keeneland, proudly unveiled the Centro de San Juan Diego, a new addition to their WayPoint Centers initiative. This initiative, established since 2021, aims to provide essential resources and support to communities across Lexington.

Situated within the vibrant Cardinal Valley neighborhood, the Centro de San Juan Diego is set to play a crucial role in meeting the vital needs of the community. 11th District Councilmember Jennifer Reynolds, an advocate for the project, notes that Cardinal Valley is unique, with 70% of its residents identifying as Hispanic or Spanish speakers. She emphasizes that the new facility will cater to the diverse requirements of her constituents.

The collaborative effort between the United Way of the Bluegrass and Keeneland shows the commitment to community shift forward. Kara Heissenbuttel, Director of Patron Experience for Keeneland, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its significance in bringing about positive change.

Conveniently located at 1389 Alexandria Dr., the WayPoint center promises to serve as a hub for support, empowerment, and community growth. Its strategic placement within Cardinal Valley ensures that it is well-positioned to make a meaningful impact on the lives of its residents.
