15 years ago Congress designated July as National Minority Mental Health Awareness month in part to bring light to the stigma of mental health illness within the minority population of the US. Historically Black Colleges and Universities or HBCU’s are doing what they can to aid in this effort. Edgar Lewis is an interventionist and mental health counselor at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. He recently sat down with KSU student and WUKY reporter Anyiah Chambers to talk about student mental health.
