Gov. Steve Beshear says Kentucky has begun participating in a program to improve emergency care to motorists involved in crashes.
It's called the Yellow Dot program.
Beshear says in a statement motorists can now request a packet that includes a circular yellow sticker to put on their car. That sticker lets emergency responders know medical information is in the vehicle's glove box. The packet also includes a form for the participant's name, photo, medical conditions and emergency contact information.
Beshear says the state decided to participate in the program as a way to improve safety on roadways. He says that if a motorist is unconscious the initiative could mean the difference between life and death.
Packets are available through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the Kentucky State Police and some hospitals.
