📣FREE BOOKS!📚
Did we get your attention? Free Book Friday is BACK at International Book Project on August 28th.
🛍️You may select up to one bag full of books per shopper. Please bring your own bag, and we request that it be standard-sized (approximately 18x20 inches). If your toddler can fit in the bag, it's too big! We want to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to get books.
⏱️Free Book Friday will take place from 10am-6pm, and there will be no limit on the number of books you can take after 5pm!
📚We have a wide variety of children's books and classroom sets of books that will be available at this event. Let your teacher friends know this is a great time to stock their classroom libraries!
❓Why are we giving these books away, anyway? We've gotten this question a lot and wanted to clear things up! We are a nonprofit focused on promoting literacy worldwide by providing donations of books to organizations around the globe. However, our warehouse is small, and the types of books our partners need are always fluctuating. Sometimes we need lots of kids' books, sometimes we need more medical textbooks, and so on! Since we don't always have room to store every book we may possibly need, we use Free Book Friday to give back to our community while also rotating the stock in our warehouse! This allows us to be as responsive as possible to our partners' donation requests, and also lets us thank our incredibly generous community for their ongoing support of our mission.
No purchase is necessary, but monetary donations are greatly appreciated. Only the books on the tables and blue carts marked "FREE" will be part of the giveaway. The books on the shelves will be for sale and all proceeds directly support IBP's operations.
We hope to see you soon!
Sep 01 Tuesday
Join us every other month for Book Bingo, where you can walk away a winner with prizes from both International Book Project and Wise Bird Cider. Book sales will begin at 6 PM, and bingo will kick off at 7 PM with rounds for both grown-ups and kids! (Kids' sheets are free, adult sheets are pay-what-you-can). You could walk away with some great reads, gift cards, or swag from your favorite cidery--not sure if bingo is your game? You can support just by grabbing your fave cider anytime between 6-9 PM! We'll be giving back 10% of our cider sales to support IBP, so they can continue the good work they do for our community and beyond. Or you can shop IBP's pop-up book store and enjoy a quiet evening on the patio with your newest read! There are so many ways to be a part of this evening...and so many chances to have FUN!

Keeneland Library will host Avalyn Hunter in discussion of "Holy Bull: An Unconventional Path to Racing Glory."
Holy Bull’s path to glory was anything but ordinary. Born outside the Bluegrass and destined for racing’s blue-collar ranks, this gray colt did not inspire Triple Crown dreams. Yet owner and trainer Warren “Jimmy” Croll saw his champion’s potential. Croll and jockey Mike Smith took Holy Bull all the way to the Kentucky Derby, but a lethargic performance ended in a twelfth-place finish. This could have ended their aspirations, but the team came back stronger. Just weeks after the Derby, Holy Bull returned to dominate the rest of the racing season with incredible speed and drive.
Holy Bull: An Unconventional Path to Racing Glory captures the spirit of 1994’s Horse of the Year, following Holy Bull’s career from humble beginnings to the Hall of Fame and highlighting the experiences of the people behind his success. The result is a gripping portrait of a remarkable horse. A compelling account of an underdog’s rise to greatness, Holy Bull contains the grit of the stables and the thrill of the racetrack.
Avalyn Hunter is a nationally recognized authority on Thoroughbred pedigrees and racing history whose work has appeared in the Blood-Horse, Thoroughbred Times, Owner-Breeder International, MarketWatch, New York Breeder, and Louisiana Horse. She is the author of many equine-related titles, including "The Kentucky Oaks: 150 Years of Running for the Lilies" and "Dream Derby: The Myth and Legend of Black Gold."
