LEXINGTON, Ky. - While UK football coach Mark Stoops may still not have decided on his quarterback of the present, on Friday he may have found his quarterback of the future.  Conner High School junior Drew Barker, a four-star quarterback recruit according to Rivals.com, committed to UK Friday in a ceremony at his high school. Man Who Killed UK Football Player Seriously Hurt In Auto Accident

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A man who pleaded guilty in the 1994 slaying of a University of Kentucky football player has been seriously injured in an auto accident.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville reports that Shane Ragland was hurt Saturday afternoon in an accident that shut down part of the Snyder Freeway. Louisville police say Ragland was traveling on a freeway ramp to Interstate 64 when he lost control of his Dodge Durango and it struck a guardrail.

UK Coach Stoops Has Had "Whirlwind" First Two Weeks

LEXINGTON, Ky.-- New Kentucky coach Mark Stoops is finally able to stand still for a moment.  His thought process, however, remains at high speed.

Stoops says it's been a "whirlwind" since he was hired on Dec. 2. Things slowed down enough for him on Wednesday to provide an update on how he's putting the program together in his first few weeks and to announce the signings of junior college players Steven Borden and Za'Darius Smith, Stoops' first commitments.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Neal Brown plans to bring the `Air Raid' offense to Kentucky. He said it won't take long to install the up-tempo, passing attack, that it can be done quickly.  The Wildcats new offensive coordinator said Tuesday he will employ the offense that helped Texas Tech's offense rank in the top 15 nationally during his three seasons there.

UK Hires Next Head Football Coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky has confirmed the hiring of Florida State Defensive Coordinator, Mark Stoops, as the next head football coach for the Wildcats.  Stoops is the brother of Oklahoma Coach Bob Stoops.  He has been the Defensive Coordinator of the Florida State Seminoles since 2009.

Kentucky Falls To Vols 37-17 In Phillips Finale

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.  -- Kentucky couldn't send Joker Phillips out as a winner.  Tyler Bray went 20-of-34 for 293 yards with four touchdown passes Saturday as Tennessee defeated Kentucky 37-17 in a Southeastern Conference matchup that pitted a lame-duck coach against an interim coach.

The game drew an announced crowd of 81,841 at Neyland Stadium, though it appeared no more than 60,000 fans were actually in attendance.
