Guilty Verdicts Returned In Trinity Gay Trial

Gay Family

It took a jury five hours to return a guilty verdict in the Trinity Gay trial. Prosecutors couldn’t prove who fired the fatal shot, but jurors still found the four men who fired weapons the night the 15-year old was shot and killed guilty of at least one charge each.

Chazerae Taylor was found guilty of wanton murder and four counts of first degree wanton endangerment. Lamonte Williams was found guilty of five counts of first degree wanton endangerment. D'Vonta Middlebrooks was found guilty on one count of first degree wanton endangerment and not guilty of five other counts of the same charge. D'Markeo Taylor, Chazerae’s son, was found guilty of one count of first degree wanton endangerment. After the verdict Trinity’s father, Olympian Tyson Gay, praised prosecutors.“I just home something positive comes out of this situations. We do feel like someone needs to take responsibility for what happened and I really believe that our prosecutors done a great job”

Trinity was killed when gunfire broke-out by the four men in the parking lot of Lexington’s Cook-Out restaurant exactly two years ago today. The sentencing phase of the trial will begin at 9:00 this morning.
