"It is go time in the 6th Congressional District," Gov. Andy Beshear said in a video post Thursday.
Democrats are seizing on news that the DCCC has added Dembo to its Red to Blue list, a program that backs "top-tier" candidates with organizational and fundraising support, strategic guidance, and other resources.
It's the latest sign that Democrats are increasingly bullish on their chances in the race.
The Sixth District was always in Democrats' sights, with the party targeting the district early. But since his primary win, Dembo has touted a poll showing him neck-and-neck with his Trump-aligned Republican challenger, former state Senator Ralph Alvarado.
The race remains a tough battle for the party, which hasn't held the seat since 2013. And some trackers still give the advantage to Alvarado. The Cook Political Report had ranked the congressional contest as "Solid Republican." By July, the race rater shifted its assessment to "Likely Republican."
In adding Dembo to its roster of leading candidates in potential swing districts, the DCCC also noted Dembo's endorsements and nearly $100,000 lead in fundraising.
