The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the internal poll, commissioned by the DCCC, shows former prosecutor Zach Dembo and former state senator Ralph Alvarado both at 47% among likely voters. 6% remain undecided.
If accurate, the survey of 474 voters conducted by phone and text-to-web interviews would indicate a slight shift toward Dembo, the first-time candidate who has appeared alongside Gov. Andy Beshear and former Congressman Ben Chandler, the last Democrat to hold the seat.
The Cook Political Report had ranked the congressional contest in the Sixth District as "Solid Republican." In July, the race rater shifted its assessment to "Likely Republican," still giving Alvarado the edge. It remains to be seen if the new poll will move the needle.
Democrats have targeted Kentucky's 6th Congressional District as a potential pick-up in the mid-terms.
