Documentary coming to Lexington asks one big question: What happens when students get an early dose of real world learning?

Multiple Choice trailer

With automation, AI, and a rapidly-evolving job market forcing educators to think twice about the best ways to prepare students for the workforce, a new documentary is meant to start a conversation about reshaping the typical school experience.

Multiple Choice is a film by producer Ted Dintersmith that argues schools need to think outside their walls and blend traditional learning with far more than simple classroom hands-on activities.

Liza Holland founded Better Questions for Brighter Futures, a learning and engagement initiative that's hosting the Lexington screening of the documentary, which follows a school in Winchester, Virginia.

"It's really about career-connected learning, how we can make real world experiences join in with education and expose kids at a much earlier time to the opportunities to see what happens in the real world as well as to build the skill sets that they really need to succeed," she says.

The film, which emphasizes direct job environment experiences meant to spark students' natural curiosity, will be followed by a pubic panel and audience conversation. It's set for Thursday, February 19, at the Kentucky Theatre. Entrance is free, but tickets are available through kentuckytheatre.org.
