Two Kentucky lawmakers hope to pass legislation naming October 14th "Charlie Kirk Day" in the commonwealth.

Sen. Steve Rawlings and Rep. TJ Roberts, both Republicans from Burlington, plan to introduce matching bills in the Senate and House creating an official annual statewide observance for slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in September.

The date would mirror a National Day of Remembrance for Kirk, following the announcement that President Donald Trump would posthumously award Kirk the Medal of Freedom in a White House ceremony.

The date was also chosen by Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott to fall on Kirk’s birthday.

In Kentucky, Rawlings said the planned bill will serve as a tribute to Kirk’s work defending free expression and advancing the conservative cause.
