U.S. Route 127 runs about 20 miles west of Lexington, and can be easily reached by taking I-64 to Frankfort, or the Bluegrass parkway to the Harrodsburg/Lawrenceburg exit.
Vendors set up shop in front yards, farms, and fields alongside the road. For some businesses and churches with available parking lot space, renting spots out to vendors can be a major fundraising event.

On the right-hand side of 127 driving south from Frankfort to Lawrenceburg, nearly fifty tents and tables dot the grassy hill between the road and New Harvest Assembly of God. Pastor Scott Bowman said the money generated this weekend goes toward the church’s missions and outreach budget.
“And so this is just a small part of that," said Bowman, "Maybe 20 percent of our missions budget annually, but this helps us and our community and lots of other people. Plus, it generally can be sometimes fun”
Bowman said one of the missions New Harvest supports is Convoy of Hope, a worldwide faith-based disaster relief organization which provided local aid following the flood earlier this year.
“We were able to be a distribution center for Convoy of Hope during the flood here in Frankfort," said Bowman. "We were able to send lots of supplies downtown to the Corinthian Church, Pastor Les, and also to the distribution center that they had downtown, the old Pic-Pac."
The 127 Yard Sale draws hundreds of thousands of vendors and shoppers annually. This year, it lasts through Sunday, August 10th.

“I hope everybody has a safe, enjoyable time this weekend,” said Bowman, “And they find whatever valued treasure they’re looking for.”
