Short Street will be 42nd Street for the next three weeks in honor of the Lexington Theatre Company's 10th anniversary.

"We are thrilled to be standing here on 40 Second Street," said Lyndy Franklin Smith, who, along with her husband, Jeremy Smith, launched the Lexington Theatre Company in 2015. A decade later, the LEX is returning to the show that started it all, '42nd Street.'

"Ten years and a global pandemic later, here we are," beamed Franklin Smith.

To help celebrate, Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton helped unveil a new sign on Short Street.

"This street has a new name," said Gorton. "Just for the next few weeks, a place where you can come and meet those dancing feet, on 42nd Street.

Gorton was able to meet members of the cast and crew that have come from all over the world to work with this company. It's growth that some told Lindy and Jeremy ten years ago wouldn't be sustainable in Lexington. Gorton said the couple proved them wrong.

"First of all, you know, they took a risk to start the lakes, but they also saw the landscape in that by having a creative group that focused on musicals, They could really fill a a need, and they really put their heart and soul into it."
