Members of more than 35 churches gathered at Consolidated Baptist in Lexington on Sunday to 'Lift Every Voice,' an annual event sponsored by Women of Worship.

Gospel singers, musicians, and dancers performed in front of a standing-room-only crowd that also heard from several pastors and government leaders like Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton and Governor Andy Beshear.

"I understand that I will never feel the weight of discrimination, of racism, of the hurt of the decades and centuries that have been in our country," Beshear said. "But I will listen, I'll try to hear and I'll try to do the right things for us to step forward together."

The crowd was estimated at close to a thousand.
