Alan Sullivan is the son of legendary Kentucky broadcaster Claude Sullivan, and the co-author of “Voice of the Wildcats: Claude Sullivan and the Rise of Modern Sportscasting.” The book, which has recently been re-issued in paperback, chronicles the career of Claude Sullivan, who broadcast University of Kentucky football and basketball games from 1947-67 and also was a radio voice of the Cincinnati Reds before his untimely death in 1967 at the age of 42. In this new interview Alan focuses on the qualities that made Claude a successful broadcaster and broadcasting executive, as well as Claude’s work in Russia on several trips made in the 1950s, and his relationship with UK coaches, especially Bear Bryant and Adolph Rupp. An interview with Bryant is among several audio clips included in this podcast.
