Cats Comeback Falls Short, MSU 74 UK 73 In SEC Tourney

UK Athletics

Kentucky's second-half comeback came up just short as the Cats lost to Mississippi State 74-73 in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.

The Cats trailed 44-30 at the half but Dontaie Allen, who scored 23 points, led a second-half comeback that allowed UK to take the lead by as many as five. But Mississippi State's Jackson Molinar hit two free throws with seven seconds left to give the Bulldogs a one-point lead. Kentucky got an open look from Allen on the game's final possession, but his three from the right side rimmed off, ending UK's season. Kentucky ends the 2020-2021 campaign at 9 wins and 16 losses, and will most assuredly not get an at large bid for the upcoming NCAA Men's Tournament.
