Kentucky governor cautions against pandemic complacency

Gov. Andy Beshear says Kentuckians should guard against complacency in the fight against COVID-19. His cautionary words come amid declines in hospitalizations and other key virus-related statistics. He says virus-related deaths remain far too high. He continued to plead with people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and to wear masks when indoors in public. The governor on Thursday reported a double-digit decline in hospitalizations due to the virus in the past seven days. Virus-related admissions to intensive care units and ventilator use also have dropped steadily. But the governor later reported 53 more virus-related deaths in Kentucky.
