Big Blue Crush: Kentucky Leads Tennessee 1,295 to 1,139

Kentucky Blood Center

There’s still time to help Kentucky get another win over Tennessee in 2020. The 33rd annual Big Blue Crush is underway at the Kentucky Blood Center. It’s your chance to roll up your sleeve and donate to help save lives and to help win another year of bragging rights.

Mandy Brajuha heads up marketing at the Blood Center. “The last full week before Thanksgiving every year we compete to see who can bring in the most blood donors to stock the shelves for the holidays,” said Brajuha “It used to always coincide with the Tennessee game which was around Thanksgiving. That moved around a little bit but we keep the blood drive here because it’s really important for the holiday blood supply.

Normally the Wildcats and the Volunteers would be hitting the field about this time but the SEC schedule changed because of COVID-19 so the two already squared off and as big blue nation knows, the football team has done their part. Brajuha said, now it’s the fans turn. “We marched down to Knoxville and beat them for the first time in my life. It’s really important that we get the victory here too. They had snapped our win streak two years ago. We had won eight years in a row and then we were able to fight back last year. We had an incredible turnout last year and so we want to keep that streak going.”

Big Blue Crush ends tomorrow. If you give you get a free t-shirt and your name in the hat to win a TV. Most importantly, you’re helping Kentucky hospitals keep their blood supplies flowing during the holidays. To find a donation site near you click here http://kybloodcenter.org
