Lexington Vice Mayor Dan Wu said, “The public input Subcommittee has updated public input expectations and guidelines, modernized the public input process, secured funding and hired councils first, Public Information Officer Jillian Riseman, and introduced the online public engagement tool Engage Lexington."
Transportation Planning Manager Chris Evilia said this Saturday’s event will combine input from transportation stakeholders like LexTran, council members, community partners, and residents. Your input could be used for planning and lead to increased funding.
“And to have a conversation about what those priorities ought to be really, for the next 25 years, and how do we better address the question of getting people from point A to point B safely and in a reasonable amount of time.”
And safety will be front and center for Jason Shubert with Frontrunners, an LGBTQ+ walk-and-run group.
“Last year, one of our members, Mia Ibrahim, was killed in a crosswalk when a driver ran a red light. We know it can be dangerous to be a pedestrian, but we know there are proven ways to make our city safer for Lexington.”
The Transportation Expo is this Saturday at the Marksbury Public Library on Versailles Road from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Evilia said all you need to do to participate is to bring ideas and an open mind.
