'Empty the Shelters' event to drop adoptions fees in Kentucky animal shelters

bissellpetfoundation.org

More than a dozen animal shelters in Kentucky will be running a national program called Empty the Shelters.

The summer event, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, allows shelters across the country to reduce adoption fees.

The Lexington Humane Society is among the participants – in addition to other shelters in Louisville, Leitchfield, and Scott County. A full list is at BissellPetFoundation.org.

The fee cut takes place as animal adoption centers are struggling with a variety of challenges, from overcrowding to extreme heat.

The reduced adoption fees run in Kentucky shelters from July 8-31st.
