WUKY assistant news director Karyn Czar’s profile of a Kentucky athlete competing in the Special Olympics won Best Sports Feature for small market radio. WUKY reporter Josh James won in the hard news category for coverage of the local government response to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

It's especially gratifying that their efforts are being recognized by such a prestigious journalism organization," Lytle said.
RTDNA region 8 comprises news outlets in Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. Regional Murrow Award recipients now move on to the national round of the competition. Those winners will be announced in summer 2024.
RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism.
