Beshear provides update on state's medical cannabis program

Karyn Czar

During his team Kentucky update this/Thursday afternoon, Governor Andy Beshear announced that his administration filed 10 regulations providing the framework for how medical cannabis businesses will operate in the Commonwealth to ensure the product is safe for patients and secure from misuse. And, lawmakers will be asked to tweak the list of qualifying medical conditions, which already includes Cancer, PTSD, MS and four other illnesses.

Muscular dystrophy, Aids, and Parkinsons are some of the 15 illnesses that made the list. If added, it's estimated medical marijuana will help an additional 437-thousand Kentuckians.

The recommendations were made by two independent appointed advisory boards.
