A staffer for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was stabbed and seriously injured in Washington, D,.C. over the weekend. The suspect has since been taken into custody.
Paul told ABC News Monday that a member of his staff was "brutally attacked in broad daylight" and thanked first responders for their quick action.
While the staffer has not been identified, a police report shows officers responded Saturday around 5:15 PM to a call about a stabbing on the 1300 block of H Street Northeast in the district.
According to a pair of witnesses, the suspect "popped out of the corner" and stabbed the staffer multiple times as both were walking, leading to a struggle before both fled.
