In Supreme Court Fight, Beshear Defends School Restrictions

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has responded to a request by the U.S. Supreme Court and defended his suspension of in-person classes at public and private schools.

Beshear's response came Friday, days after Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron asked the Supreme Court to strike down Beshear's ban on in-person classes. Cameron is a Republican who has repeatedly clashed with the governor over his virus-related orders. Cameron argues that the governor's restriction violates the First Amendment rights of those attending religious schools. Beshear says the restriction is backed up by law.
