Beshear Urges Virtual Campaigning When Possible

Kentucky’s governor says political candidates should lean toward virtual campaigning amid a surge of coronavirus cases. And he says they should follow strict guidelines if opting for in-person events.

With Election Day a week away, Gov. Andy Beshear was asked Tuesday about people campaigning in counties categorized as having the highest COVID-19 incidence rates. He said it would be "optimal" for candidates to do virtual events if possible. The question came after Beshear reported 18 more coronavirus-related deaths statewide and 1,786 new virus cases. That's the highest daily total for cases on a Tuesday.
