Sen. Mitch McConnell and Democratic challenger Amy McGrath have yet to square away one remaining detail about their planned debate on Gray TV.
McConnell and McGrath haven't been shy about throwing verbal punches in attack ads, but it remains to be seen whether the Senate candidates will debate face to face.
For now the debate is one over details - as both campaigns accuse the other of trying to dictate what the face off will look like.
In a Monday release, McGrath argued the longtime Republican senator has avoided debates with female moderators for 25 years and said she would not take the stage until "the gender balance is restored."
A spokesperson for McConnell told the Lexington Herald-Leader it's the Democrat who is evading the debate, adopting a "evolving grab bag of laughably ridiculous excuses why she cannot."
WKYT's Bill Bryant is scheduled to host the Gray TV debate.
