'Empty, Nothing Space' Becomes Public Art Showcase

A self-acknowledged desolate patch of ground at the corner of Winchester Road and Walton Avenue has been transformed into the city’s newest space for public art.  Businesses in the trendy National Avenue District, the Lexington Corridors Commission and designer Ryan Hargrove combined to unveil three giant steel cubes between the railroad track and the back of Locals Restaurant which will serve as a gateway to the neighborhood.

Hargrove, who helped transform the Southland Drive corridor, says the cubes will command attention especially at night because they will light up in multiple colors.

National Avenue Businesses are holding their annual Block Party this Saturday.
