A recent appointee to the University of Louisville board of trustees has declined the position, and Republican Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed someone to replace him.

Doug Cobb of Louisville wrote a letter to Bevin saying he had to decline the appointment "after careful consideration." Cobb's Twitter account came under scrutiny after his appointment to the board. The Courier-Journal reported it contained a series of tweets calling for the firing of head men's basketball coach Rick Pitino and denying the science of climate change. Cobb's Twitter account is no longer active.

Bevin appointed Louisville attorney Brian A. Cromer to replace Cobb. Bevin spokeswoman Amanda Stamper said Cromer has 25 years of experience in corporate law and said he will be a "great value" to the board.
