Time Warner Cable Now Has TV Competition In Lexington

windstream.com

Consumers flipping through their TV service options in Lexington will now see a new choice on offer.

Windstream’s television service – dubbed Kinetic – is now available to more than 50,000 local residents. Integrating what the company calls “an innovative user experience” with features demanded by subscribers, the Time Warner cable challenger promises high definition channels delivered through wireless set top boxes.

Lexington is only the second market for Kinetic, which first launched in Lincoln, Nebraska. Standalone service will run subscribers $39.99 a month, though users can also opt for bundled packages with Windstream’s internet and phone services.

The Urban County Council awarded Windstream a decade-long franchise agreement in October.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
