A Lexington-based tech company has added Rupp Arena to the growing list of apps available through its product.
While the number of apps continues to explode, research shows mobile users still only access about 25 a month – a number that’s remained flat for years. And many of those apps eventually go ignored and or wind up in the trash.
In search of a way around that problem, Omveria created an app… for apps. Company chief operating officer Ralph McBarron says many apps like Yelp will help you locate local businesses, but the experience stops when you reach your destination.
"Those things will get you to the front door, but what Omveria will do is put you into that business' app experience when you get there," he explains. "In other words, through one icon on the phone a person can walk in a participating business, pop that icon open, and it will open to the app for that business."
New to the list is Rupp Arena, an addition McBarron hopes will drive more consumers and local businesses to embrace the platform. The apps on offer in Omveria are located on the cloud, freeing up precious space for smartphone users.
McBarron says about 2,000 people have already downloaded the app and an upgrade is on the way next month.
