The Kentucky Primary Care Association and UK Healthcare announce a partnership that they say will benefit rural care practitioners across the state of Kentucky.
The groundbreaking partnership is set up to help hundreds of patient care providers gain access to UK HealthCare support services like placement services for medical professionals, support and training and an after-hours pediatric call triage center. Rob Edwards is the Chief External Affairs Officer with UK Healthcare. “What is means is that we’re improving access for patients in rural areas. We all know that we want to take care of our mother and father as close to home as possible. I think when we look at ways to find opportunities for physicians and nurse practitioners in rural areas and community health centers it improves access. It also means that there’s a back up. The University of Kentucky Medical Center is there in case someone needs to go to a higher level of care.”
The partnership also provides those services at a heavily discounted rate and in some cases free of charge, a key to help rural clinics provide the best possible care at an affordable rate. KPCA has more than 250 member clinics that treat some of the state’s most underserved patients.
