Lexington Police Label Nine Month Drug Operation A Success
55 arrests, and 6 sealed indictments pending; that’s the outcome of a nine month operation targeting the illegal drug trade in Lexington’s East End.
Police briefed the media on the effort dubbed “Operation Transformation” on Monday. Police Chief Ronny Bastin said the narcotics investigation has been “essential to addressing the violence we have seen most recently.” Bastin went on to say that “in a majority of situations where gun violence is involved, illegal drugs have played a role.”
Operation Transformation, which began last October, is a three-phase investigation, with a focus on street-level drug trafficking of controlled substances, especially crack cocaine.
