New CentrePointe Design Expands, Alters Hotel

CentrePointe developer Dudley Webb plans to add five more floors to the project’s apartment building.

The long-delayed CentrePointe project will go before the Courthouse Area Design Review Board again next week. When it does, members will be asked to OK an expanded apartment complex and changes to the façade of the hotel.

"I think it's a further refinement that's a much more exciting, much more iconic design than we had before. The Main Street design is much more in keeping with the rest of Main Street, so we think it will be approved," Webb says.

The 110 -room addition was requested by Marriott, which conducted a study that showed more market demand for extended stay suites in the area.

Despite demolishing a block of buildings in 2008, CentrePointe developers were not able to begin construction until late last year.

Costs for entire project are expected to top $393 million.
