Lawmakers are reporting progress on a biennial road plan.
The General Assembly adjourned Monday locked in a stalemate over the construction spending plan.
Leaders in both chambers lobbed criticisms at one another – with House Speaker Greg Stumbo scolding the Senate for scheduling a dinner at the Frankfort Country Club Monday evening and Senate president Robert Stivers suggesting several House members spent the two-week veto recess distracted by the Final Four.
But Senate Minority Leader RJ Palmer tells reporters there is a tentative deal on the big projects.
"My understanding is that, as far as the mega projects, they've come to agreement on that. Now it's more of the local projects. They're trying to mesh all that together," he says.
Lawmakers are scrambling to reach a compromise deal as the session officially comes to an end at midnight tonight.
If a road plan is not approved, the General Assembly would likely be called back for a special session.
