Centre College To Host VP Debate In 2012

By Associated Press

Danville, KY – Centre College in Danville has been chosen for the 2012 vice presidential debate, marking the second time for the private, central Kentucky college to host the event.

The nonpartisan, nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates announced the choice Monday in a statement.

The vice presidential debate is scheduled for Oct. 11.

Centre College hosted the 2000 vice presidential debate between Republican Dick Cheney and Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman.

The commission also named three presidential debate hosts. Eastern Kentucky University, a public university in Richmond that was one of 12 sites to submit a bid, was not chosen.

The three 2012 presidential debates will be at the University of Denver; Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.; and Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.
