LEXINGTON, Ky. – A former school principal in eastern Kentucky has pleaded guilty to federal drug and gun charges.
Forty-six-year-old Darrell B. Patrick of Salyersville faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday. A news release from U.S. Attorney Kerry B. Harvey says Patrick admitted selling pain pills to an undercover informant in 2009, possessing pills for the purpose of distribution and gun possession related to a drug crime.
Police found more than 100 shotguns, rifles and pistols when they raided Patrick's house in 2009.
Patrick had been suspended from his job at North Magoffin Elementary School after his arrest in 2009. In a separate federal lawsuit, he claimed the school board had demoted him from a principal's job in 2008 because he accused the district of wrongdoing.
