Frankfort, KY – Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is planning a trip to Kentucky next month to help Republican gubernatorial candidate David Williams raise money for the fall campaign.
Barbour will host a fundraiser in Lexington on June 16.
Williams said in a statement Thursday that Barbour, former chairman of the Republican Governors Association, has been a great governor and that Kentucky needs someone who shares his conservative values. Barbour had been mentioned as a potential GOP presidential candidate next year, but he ruled out a run last month.
Williams won Kentucky's GOP primary earlier this week, and will challenge Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear in this fall's general election.
