Lexington, KY – Crews were kept busy at a fire at Eastern State Hospital earlier today.
A woman operating a lawnmower is thought to have accidentally struck a gas line; igniting a considerable blaze at a small brick outbuilding that houses high-pressure natural gas lines. The fire has since been contained.
The Lexington Herald Leader reports that the woman has been taken to UK Hospital. Her identity and condition are unknown at present. The hospital was evacuated briefly and traffic around the hospital grounds had to be rerouted for a time.
