Another Republican Enters Governor's Race

By Tony McVeigh

Frankfort, KY – Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw says her campaign is about the people, and she's not getting into the governor's race to raise a lot of money. She just wants enough money to get her message out. How much is that?

"I can't answer that. And I'm not prepared to answer that question. I will take whatever I get and I will do the best I can with that money to get my message out and where it needs to go."

Her running mate is retired naval office Bill Vermillion of Caneyville. Holsclaw says Kentucky's leaders are failing the Commonwealth.

"It's been a blame game. David Williams blames Steve Beshear. Steve Beshear blames David Williams. And I've come to the conclusion, and really what put me over the edge, is the fact - they're both right. They both are at fault. And I think it's time for a change. I think it's time that Kentucky deserves to have the opportunity to speak."

Also seeking the Republican nomination are gubernatorial slates headed by Senate President David Williams and Louisville businessman Phil Moffett. Gov. Beshear is seeking re-election as a Democrat. The primary is May 17th.
