Frankfort, KY – Surrendering his gavel to speak from the House floor, Speaker Greg Stumbo says it took the tragedy of 9-1-1 to show us that the nation's defense systems can be breached. "It took the tragedies of this last 9-1-1 to show us that there is technology available and a system that we can get in place in Kentucky to provide that extra level of protection in these very, very, very severe and serious cases."
Amanda's Bill, which unanimously passed the House, allows judges to order electronic monitoring of individuals in some domestic violence cases. The bill, which now moves to the Senate, is named for former state worker Amanda Ross, who was slain outside her Lexington townhome last September 11th. Former House member Steve Nunn is awaiting trial for her murder.
