Frankfort, KY – Governor Beshear still has three days to consider possible vetoes before the session resumes. So far, he's issued only a line item veto in the state road plan. Lawmakers will decide if they want to override any vetoes when they return.
At least two major pieces of legislation are still awaiting final action - the governor's economic incentives package and a supplemental spending bill. The incentives bill includes tax breaks to entice Hollywood to film more movies in the commonwealth, bring a NASCAR Sprint Cup race to the Kentucky Speedway and lure the Breeders Cup to Churchill Downs.
Governor Beshear has signed into law only a handful of bills approved during the session, including alcohol and cigarette tax hikes that take effect April 1st. Once the 30-day session adjourns, lawmakers won't meet again until January, unless Beshear calls a special session.
