Frankfort, KY – Legislative Research Commission Director Bobby Sherman makes almost 133-thousand dollars a year. But his bosses, House and Senate leaders, are upping his annual salary to 195-thousand dollars. However, the vote was not unanimous. Five democratic leaders, including House Speaker Jody Richards, voted no. The timing is not good at all because we've asked other people to sacrifice and not have an appreciable salary increase.

Other opponents were Senate Minority Whip Joey Pendleton, House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark, House Majority Leader Rocky Adkins and House Majority Caucus Chairman Charlie Hoffman. The vote, which followed a closed-door meeting, was 11-5. Senate President David Williams says the raise is deserved and will keep Sherman from retiring. Sherman declined comment.
