UK Elder Care hosts 6th annual Senior Caregiving conference
Caring for an older loved one can be a daunting task. Many caregivers struggle with balancing their own professional and personal responsibilities with caring for an older loved one. By offering elder care services, University of Kentucky Human Resources supports employees in the workplace and at home. UK HR Elder Care is here to offer help and guidance during the caregiving process. On Friday, Nov. 5, UK HR will host its sixth annual Senior Caregiving Conference. WUKY's Dr. Greg Davis gets a preview of this year's event from UK elder care specialist Terri Weber.
From UK Now:
Held via Zoom, this event will feature a two-hour webinar with dementia care expert Teepa Snow. Attendees may view the event virtually or come to the in-person watch party (registration for this portion is limited to 30 attendees).
Both parts of this event are free to all members of the community.
“Caregivers never know how long they will be caring for their loved one,” said Terri Weber, UK elder care specialist. “Caregivers often find themselves in a downward spiral of poor self-care, decreased confidence, increased isolation and depression. Learning more about dementia and how it affects your loved one can help lift you out of that spiral. We are excited to be hosting guest presenter Teepa Snow again this year. She offers caregivers realistic and manageable tips and strategies to help with their everyday caregiving needs.”
Webinar agenda: 10-11 a.m. - Why do they do that? Understanding symptoms and situations in dementia. 11-11:50 a.m. - Creative and practical tips for getting through the day 11:50 a.m.-noon - Q&A
