Treevangelist will cover: - how to choose the right tree for your location - what to look for when you purchase a tree from a nursery - the difference between the common tree “types” available for purchase - how to plant a tree - how to care for a tree We will end with a tree planting so you can get your hands dirty and put into practice some of what we talked about. You may take a tree home to plant so you can experience the lifelong benefits trees provide to you, the community and the world. Spanish interpretation available if requested by October 10.

Join Earendel Theatricals for a staged reading of Arian Moayed's THE COURTROOM, presented as a fundraiser for immigrant legal aid in the Catholic Diocese of Lexington. The performance will take place at 7:00 PM in Hehman Hall, Cathedral of Christ the King, followed by a brief Q&A with the director and representatives of diocesan migrant services, Community Response Coalition of KY, and the New Americans Initiative.

Tickets are pay-what-you-will (starting at $1 online and free at the door). 100% of ticket proceeds goes to the Catholic Diocese of Lexington's immigrant legal aid fund.

Elizabeth Keathley, a Filipina immigrant, entered the United States on a K-3 visa to live with her husband, a U.S. citizen. When applying for her driver’s license at an Illinois DMV, Keathley inadvertently said “yes” to the form question of registering to vote, and subsequently received a voter registration card in the mail. With this card, Keathley voted in a midterm congressional election, violating U.S. election law. When the mistake was discovered at her citizenship hearings, the Department of Homeland Security ordered her deportation. Elizabeth Keathley’s case went from Chicago Immigration Court all the way to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Join the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging for the 16th Annual Markesbery Symposium on Aging and Dementia. Clinicians and researchers from Boston University and the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging will come together to share current findings, trends, and updates on dementia, particularly as they relate to Alzheimer’s disease and healthy brain aging.

The Markesbery Symposium is held annually in memory of the late William R. Markesbery, M.D., founding director of the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Dr. Markesbery’s legacy of groundbreaking research has formed the bedrock for our quest to understand and treat Alzheimer’s disease and to improve the quality of life of older adults.

This year's keynote speaker will be Rhoda Au, Ph.D., Professor of Anatomy & Neurobiology, Neurology, Medicine and Epidemiology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and School of Public Health.

“Precision AD: Where We Are and Where We Could Be”

Leveraging technological advances in software, hardware, and deep machine learning/artificial intelligence analytic strategies, her current research objectives are to develop and validate globally feasible screening and monitoring tools for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and to redefine and generate multi-sensor digital biomarkers. Her strategic vision is to shift the focus on brain-related disorders to a broader emphasis on precision brain health.

The Symposium will also feature Sanders-Brown researchers & panelists.

This workshop begins where the animal becomes food.

Over three days, we will guide you through the breakdown of a whole pig and the transformation of its parts into traditional charcuterie—from whole-muscle cures to salami, pâté, and potted meats.

This is a hands-on experience designed for those who want to move beyond theory and develop real, working skill.
