It takes a village! Kentucky mascot Scratch, the UK cheerleaders, hundreds of volunteers, and President Eli Capilouto are on hand, helping thousands of new students settle into the dorms for the start of the fall semester.
It’s year 14 for Dr. Capilouto who had this advice for incoming Freshmen.
“Your student success starts today. It starts with you in terms of the commitment we are going to make to you to grow academically, emotionally, intellectually. But it does not end with you. This is a time for you to develop those skills. Soft skills that a residential experience provides.” Capilouto said, “So, what I love, is to see new relationships bloom. I know later in life people say through careful studies that those relationships are key to happiness and you get to see them blossom here at the University of Kentucky, starting on moving.
Nearly six thousand first-year students will be moving into campus housing over the next few days. You can expect traffic delays on and near campus through Wednesday, with several streets blocked off or turned into one-way traffic. Classes start on Monday, August 26th.
