Renee Shaw will return to KET as the CEO and Executive Director.

Renee Shaw has been named the new executive director and CEO of Kentucky Educational Television. KET announced the appointment on Wednesday, following the death of longtime leader Shae Hopkins last week.

Shaw has spent nearly three decades at KET, serving as host and moderator of Kentucky Tonight and leading coverage of elections, public forums, and other issues. She also helped expand the network’s programming, including Kentucky Edition.

She has received three Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards and has been inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame and the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame.

Shaw says she is honored to lead an organization that has played an important role in her life and is committed to building on the foundation Hopkins established.

KET officials say a search committee recommended Shaw for the position.
