Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie has signaled an intent to revive his impeachment push against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth once the House of Representatives returns.

Massie introduced articles of impeachment against Hegseth in September, citing the lack of congressional approval of the war in Iran among other actions, but the effort stalled when the House adjourned before a vote.

Now, the Kentucky congressman — who was defeated in the primaries by Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein — says he will press for a vote on week one of the lame duck session. That would be the week starting November 9.

In a post to X, Massie suggested he's prepared to continue with the long shot maneuver to oust the Pentagon chief, "if he's still SecDef" when the House reconvenes.

Massie told Rollcall he believes the measure has a "better than 50 percent" chance of passing. That's if the House doesn't table the issue. If it doesn't and the articles clear the chamber, they would still face a vote in the Senate.
