The Fayette County School Board has signed off on an official timeline for the search process as the district looks for its next leader, following the resignation of former superintendent Demetrus Liggins.
An online survey will be posted at 5 p.m. on Monday at FCPS.net/search. Members of the public are invited to take the survey and encouraged to form in-person input sessions to offer their opinions on what criteria the next school leader should meet.
School Board Chair Tyler Murphy said he wants to "cast the net as wide as he can."
The Kentucky School Boards Association led a training for the screening committee, which covered roles and responsibilities of the committee and the board as well as confidentiality of applicants and information.
FCPS intends to have the position posted by December 1. The application would close on January 11. Finalists would meet with the public around March 1, with the goal of selecting a new superintendent on or around March 15. He or she would take over the top position on July 1, 2027.
