Barr says he is the right candidate for the job because of his support of President Trump's policies, Booker believes Kentucky voters are looking for change, and the poll numbers show it.
“The Kentucky Debate for U.S. Senate” will be co-hosted by Gray Media stations and the League of Women Voters of Kentucky. WKYT’s Bill Bryant and WAVE/WDRB’s Lindsay Allen will co-moderate.
The debate will be televised live on WKYT.
The race opened after Sen. Mitch McConnell announced he would not seek re-election. Booker entered the Democratic race in December 2025 and won the party’s primary in May 2026. Barr won the Republican primary in May after receiving an endorsement from President Donald Trump.
